Second horror poster draft
We have decided this version still needs more development as we are unhappy with some of the tints and colours plus the unconventional amount of actor names (due to reshooting many shots) needs to be down sized
Texas Chainsaw 3D Official Trailer (2012) - Horror Movie HD
This trailer has been extremely influential to our trailer due to its similar group dynamic an masked serial killer. Texas Chainsaw 3D's trailer opening slowly then descending in to chaos and horror is what we had always aimed to create with our trailer. This trailer has also given us techniques of spreading up our shots such as negative effect flashes.
First horror poster draft
This is the layout we are looking for as a poster however we are not fully accepting of the photo, the screen shot above shows an attempt at blacking out most of the image. we are currently drafting more ideas.
New poster image
Although we are no longer using the shot the scene these images were taken in are of the shot we would like to use as a still for our poster with editing we hope to make a professional looking image from the video still
The shot connotes the Taker is 'coming for you' our slogan, a murderer with his signature weapon and a hidden villain by completely not showing his masked face.

Magazine tagline
We have moulded our tagline from Empire’s The Bourne Legacy
edition which dubbed itself ‘Our most action packed issue ever’ as The Bourne
Legacy is an action film this reflects the feature well we wanted the same
impact tagging our edition the scariest yet.
Horror poster research
-
We realised the concept we initially planned for
our magazine cover was a viable idea for the poster as research shows us that horror film posters often feature the villain.
S Some conventions of horror posters
- One main image
- The image is often purposefully mysterious or horrifically direct
- The image tends to be unusual this grips your attention
- Fine print giving information on the films production companies and more
- They often feature an ominous tagline which gives the viewer some insight into the film
- Sometimes the poster's font is unique and its title and colours reflect the film itself

Magazine cover image
We found this shot perfect as it included all the elements of our plan. The only development is the final girl is equal to her twin this is to highlight the contrast between the girls shown in light (pure) and dark clothing

Magazine cover flat plan
I created a rough flat plan from my skectch using the Sucker Punch edition of Empire as a guide on the magazines style and layout, using this example in particular due to its similarities of our group dynamic, defensive armed stances plus young and dark themes.

Empire examples of group shots
Planning group cover photo
We decided since our trailer and film is based around a group of main characters our magazine cover should reflect this. This shows our final girl doesn't stand alone in her fight but also bears the question 'who will survive?'
I have drawn this sketch as a portrayal of my groups ideas and a plan for when we take the photo
